Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester and Beverly Hospital recently received 2023 'Get With The Guidelines' awards from the American Heart Association. The awards recognize a commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of stroke, leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times and fewer readmissions to the hospital. The hospitals were honored for excellence in treating stroke with a 'Gold Plus' distinction — the highest level of the award given by the organization — as well as the Target: Stroke Elite award, which means the hospitals met specific criteria that reduces the time between an eligible patient's arrival at the hospital and treatment with the clot-buster alteplase.
